Our Whoosh Philosophy

At Whoosh Care, we recognise the profound responsibility of caring for children and the privilege of being part of their learning journey. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to explore their world with curiosity and joy.

Children’s voices, interests, and ideas are at the heart of everything we do. We view each child as a competent, capable learner and an active participant in their own growth. Through play-based, child-led learning, we foster creativity, independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of discovery. We value process over product, encouraging children to take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate their achievements along the way.

We believe in nurturing the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Our programs encourage kindness, empathy, and respect for self, others, and the environment. We actively embed First Nations perspectives, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we play, learn, and grow. We celebrate the rich diversity of our communities and recognise that every family brings unique strengths, stories, and cultures that enrich our service.

Strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of our practice. We work in partnership with children, families, schools, and the wider community to create a true sense of belonging and shared purpose. Open and respectful communication ensures that all voices are heard and valued.

Our educators are compassionate, reflective, and dedicated professionals who act as positive role models. We engage in continuous improvement through critical reflection, professional learning, and collaboration. Together, we strive to deliver excellence in care and education, inspiring children to grow into resilient, thoughtful, and caring individuals who contribute meaningfully to their world.

At Whoosh Care, every child belongs, every voice matters, and every moment is an opportunity to learn, connect, and thrive.

Whoosh Care Commitment to Child Safety Statement

At Whoosh, our commitment to child safety is unwavering as we uphold the 10 Child Safe Principles. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety, participation, and empowerment of children by fostering an environment and culture that promotes their well-being, physical health, and safety. We will always respect each child’s autonomy, right to privacy, dignity, and right to play in a safe and nurturing environment.

At Whoosh, we respect and support all children, families, our team, and volunteers. Our commitment extends to working closely with educators and families to foster safe environments and mitigate the risk of harm for children in our services. From the moment a child is enrolled, or an educator is employed, to our collaboration with families, local agencies, and communities, we are dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for children.

Whoosh has zero tolerance for child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated seriously and consistently as outlined in our Child Protection and Child-Safe policies and procedures. Whoosh is committed to engaging team members in training and education to identify risks and promote children’s safety. Whoosh also commits to the legal and moral obligation to contact authorities when we are concerned about a child’s safety.

Whoosh is committed to the cultural safety of Indigenous children, the cultural safety of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.
